Induction:
Induction, or Labor Induction as it is called, is the name
given to the method of artificially stimulating childbirth in a woman. The most
common reasons for induction to be performed include postterm pregnancy i.e.
the woman has gone past the 42 week mark in her pregnancy; premature rupture of
the membranes (PROM) i.e. when the membranes have ruptured, but the labor hasn’t
begun in the specified amount of time as is deemed normal; or in cases where
the woman has pre-eclampsia.
